As the engine of the nation’s economic recovery, it is essential that small and medium sized enterprises have the ability to share ideas and meet new people in order to maximise their potential for growth.
Meeting frequently, beginning in February 2014, the Harrow Business Club will allow local entrepreneurs, business leaders and service providers to connect with each other in order to develop good relationships and promote their businesses in a commercially focussed environment. Members will also hear from guest expert speakers at each meeting to cover issues of importance to local businesses.
Thursday 31st October saw the launch event of the Club, held at KPS Hall in Harrow. Hannah David, the club's President said "I have launched this venture because I believe businesses, regardless of their size, are the true drivers of economic growth, innovation and ultimately opportunity for the whole community. It is vital that politicians do all they can to support hardworking local people who make this happen, and I am very positive about the role that this club can play.
“We welcomed over sixty businessmen and women from across Harrow and I was delighted to see people sharing ideas and finding new opportunities to work together for mutual benefit. I am really looking forward to working closely with the club’s members in order to do everything I can to make Harrow a more economically vibrant place to live and work”.
The launch event hosted Alok Sharma MP as the guest speaker. As a former business-owner himself, Alok is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the advancement of the Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce and currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Party. Alok spoke about the importance of connecting local businesses in order to build alliances, further mutual productivity and increase trade within the local economy in order to create jobs.
