Hannah was delighted to host an event today to mark the Independence Day of Bangladesh. The event, which took place at Regents College, Rayners Lane, was a remarkable success, and featured food, live music, and traditional Bangladeshi Dance.
There was also an opportunity for members of the local Bangladeshi Community to take to the lectern, and reflect on the meaning of the Independence Day celebrations, and the contribution of the Bangladeshi People both at home and abroad.
The highlight of the afternoon came when Hannah took to the stage to introduce the guest of honour: Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, the Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP.
Miss Villiers gave an address that praised the entrepreneurial spirit among the Bangladeshi Community in Britain, and emphasised the Conservative-led Government’s commitment to helping Bangladeshi businesses to succeed.
Miss Villiers went on to say: "One of my priorities in politics is a cohesive society where we can celebrate different cultures and traditions. So I am delighted to be here supporting Hannah David and the Conservative council candidates in Harrow at this celebration of Bangladeshi culture and community."
The event, organised in conjunction with Kishan Devani, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Leicester East, and local community leader Mohammed Eaoyer Shaikh, marked a high point in recognising the achievements and traditions of the Bangladeshi community in Harrow.
Following the event Hannah said: “It was a real honour to be able to mark Bangladesh Independence Day with the local Bangladeshi community. Harrow is such a diverse borough, it is so important for us to celebrate each of its rich cultures and traditions. I look forward to working closely with the local Bangladeshi community in the future.”
