Hannah David, was delighted to welcome the Minister of State for Skills and Equalities, Nick Boles, to Harrow on Thursday for a round table discussion on the future of apprenticeships in the Borough.
The meeting was attended by a broad range of apprenticeship stakeholders – from college heads to local business leaders.
Over the course of an hour, participants had an opportunity to discuss a broad range of topics relating to apprenticeship policy and practice.
The Minister outlined some of the work that the Conservative-led Government has been doing to modernise the apprenticeship system, and to make apprenticeships ever more accessible to people of all ages.
Since the Coalition Government came to office in 2010, 1,860 people have started apprenticeship in Harrow West alone – with over 2million places made available across the UK.
Mrs David said, “I was thrilled to welcome the Minister for Skills and Equalities to Harrow today. Apprenticeships form such an important part of our training and education program, and this Government’s Commitment to providing high quality apprenticeships will ensure that we have the skills base we need for a world-class economy.”
“I was pleased that the Minister took time to listen the views of local apprenticeship providers on how to ensure that residents and businesses have access to an apprenticeship system that works for Harrow and for the UK”
