Members and supporters of Harrow Mencap gathered at Let’s Meat, in Borehamwood on Monday evening, for their annual fundraising dinner. Guests arrived at 7pm for a three course meal, and enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment and events.
Harrow Mencap, is a multi-project service provider, which has worked to support people with learning disabilities in Harrow since the 1940s. In addition to providing practical facilities, the organisation has long campaigned for the rights of people with learning disabilities, and to raise awareness of their needs, and the needs of their families and carers.
The evening’s celebrations were formally opened by former Councillor, John Nicolay, who gave a speech on the pivotal role that Harrow Mencap plays in Harrow’s Community, and who congratulated Jeremy Child, Harrow Mencap’s Fundraising Manager, on the excellent job he has been doing in raising funds for the organisation. Also present was the GLA Member for Brent and Harrow, Navin Shah
The food, and the venue for the evening, were kindly donated by Hannah David, the owner of Let’s Meat, and the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Harrow West.
Following the event, Mrs David said: “I have been involved in Harrow Mencap for several years now, and am always happy to help out in whatever way I can. Jeremy and his team do remarkable work for people with learning disabilities and their families. I believe that as a community we owe them all the support they need to continue delivering the excellent services they provide.”
The fundraising dinner was an outstanding success. The restaurant was filled to capacity, ensuring the maximum profit, and all present had a most enjoyable evening.
