The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has backed Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, Hannah David, in her campaign to bring Crossrail to Harrow.
The Mayor visited Harrow and Wealdstone Station on Friday to promote the scheme that Mrs David has been fighting for since last year.
The project had already received a serious boost in August when Transport Secretary, Patrick McLaughlin, announced a feasibility study into the scheme. Since then, Mrs David has been gathering local support and lobbying key stake holders to push the project through to completion.
On Friday, the Mayor was greeted by a group of local activists who have been working with Mrs David to secure the Crossrail link to Harrow. People of all ages had turned out to show the Mayor that this is a project that the people of Harrow very much need and want.
Following the event, Mr Johnson said, “Hannah David is doing an absolutely brilliant job for Harrow, particularly by campaigning to get Crossrail to stop here. That would be transformational for this part of the city and Hannah is leading the Campaign”
Mrs David added, “Bringing Crossrail to Harrow would bring untold opportunities to our area, and would help to regenerate places such as Wealdstone and Harrow Town Centre. The Support we have seen for this scheme from local people and key stakeholders, such as the Mayor, has been overwhelming. I am now determined to drive this project through to completion.
